We have a wonderful selection of candles and candleholders. We want you to enjoy their use throughout your home. Below are a few recommendations on using your candles in a safe manner.
Fire Safety & Candles
A study by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission suggests that 85 percent of candle fires could be avoided if consumers followed three basic safety rules: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Never burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire. Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. The National Candle Association urges consumers to always follow the basic rules of fire safety when burning candles.

Additional Fire Safety Tips
· Burn candles in an area free of anything that could come in contact with the flame and burn such as decorations, curtains that could blow around, other items on a table or counter.
· Use a sturdy metal, glass, or ceramic container in which to burn your candle.
· Stay in the same room with burning candles; never leave them unattended. Most fire start when flaming material is left unattended.
· Ensure that children stay well away of burning candles. Never allow children to touch or play with candles while they are burning and afterward. The wax can still be very hot and could burn children.
· Don't leave a candle burning out of your sight when you feel the need to fall asleep.
· Many candle fires are started when pets knock them over, or when children touch or play with them.
· Store all matches and lighters out of sight and away from the reach of children. Preferably lock matches and other flame igniters in a cabinet which children cannot open. Don't leave matches and lighters unattended after you have lit your candles.
· Teach everyone in the family the rules of safe candle use. Children, teenagers, grown-ups, and older adults should know the rules of safe candle use.
